2014 Mazda3 Finds Perfect Balance of Sport and Efficiency

If you’re looking for a practical car for getting to and from work, around town, and the occasional road trip, but prefer to skip the snooze-fest cars usually associated with “practical”, it’s time to check out the 2014 Mazda3. The Mazda3 somehow manages to be incredibly efficient, spacious enough for getting your friends or family around, and delivers the “Zoom Zoom” we expect from Mazda.

You no longer have to sacrifice fun-to-drive performance for fuel efficiency, and vice-versa. Mazda has found the perfect balance in the Mazda3. The third-generation Mazda3 features SkyActiv, a host of design improvements and technology updates which now yield an average combined mpg of 32, up from 27 mpg in the previous generation. Improvement like that usually means a loss of power behind the wheel, but in the Mazda3, you won’t even notice it. The Mazda 3s models still manage to crank out an impressive 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque.

It might seem like magic, but in reality, it’s just really smart science. The high compression engine, advanced six-speed transmission, and regenerative braking (i-Eloop) all contribute to the car’s efficiency and power. Check out Motoramic’s review of their long-term test drive. They’ve had the car for a year, and are still impressed!

2014 Mazda CX-9: Graceful and Agile Despite its Size

Mazda, most known for making small, road-hugging sports cars, is out to prove that full-size SUVs can go “zoom-zoom” too. They’ve built the 2014 Mazda CX-9, the biggest SUV in the automaker’s lineup, to feel and drive like a roadster—well, as much like a roadster as a full-size SUV can get. The classy utility vehicle might be nearly 17-feet long, but the design and engineering behind this vehicle keep it handling like a dream.

The CX-9 runs on a 3.7L V6 engine, which can power out up to 270 horsepower when mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The CX-9, a standard front-wheel-drive vehicle that also offers all-wheel-drive capability, can hit a top speed of 118 miles per hour. It posts 22 mpg on the way and has a starting price under $30,000.2014 Mazda CX-9

You can outfit this SUV with all kinds of bells and whistles, too; upgrades like the Technology Package and the Grand Touring premium trim add even more comfort and capability to the CX-9. With performance numbers and special options like these—plus, more rear legroom than other full-size SUVs—it simply doesn’t make sense to us here at Parks Mazda that the CX-9 isn’t at the top of the sales chart. Come see us today; we bet we can persuade you of the CX-9’s full-size SUV supremacy as well.

2015 Mazda CX-5 Out-Classes Competition with Technology and Design

The Mazda CX-5, while still a relatively new model, received a redesign for the 2015 model, making it an even more competitive model in the compact crossover class than before. For the 2015 Mazda CX-5, the Japanese automaker made no secret of its aggressive strategy—the vehicle’s “Soul of Motion” design language specifically aims to imitate a predator’s stance as it stalks its prey.  So, watch out, Mazda competitors, because the CX-5 is very much on the prowl.

The CX-5, Mazda’s first vehicle designed under the full umbrella of “Skyactiv” technology, uses that technology to make it one of the most fuel-efficient and capable vehicles in the compact crossover segment. The CX-5 offers two Skyactiv engine options—2.0L and 2.5L variants—both of which get better fuel economy than any other SUV, and that includes hybrids. Plus, the 2.0L engine churns out 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque.

The Mazda’s technological advancements don’t stop under the hood, though; the CX-5 also boasts safety features like Smart City Brake Support and Blind Spot Monitoring which helped it achieve a 2014 Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS. Overall, the redesigned CX-5 is one of the roomiest, safest, most efficient, and even most affordable crossovers on the road, so come see us at Parks Mazda today to check this great compact out for yourself.

Mazda CX-5 Outpaces Competition with 5-Star Safety Rating from NHTSA

For the 2015 model, the Mazda CX-5 has a reputation to uphold when it comes to safety. After earning a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS for the 2014 model, nothing less than a repeat performance would be acceptable. The pressure was on—and Mazda delivered in a big way. While the new CX-5 has not been rated by the IIHS yet, it’s already earned a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA, the highest rating given out by the administration. The rating applies to both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive models of the 2015 CX-5.

The compact crossover achieved five-star ratings in both the front and side crash tests and a four-star rating in the rollover crash test to add up to the overall five-star rating. These ratings put the CX-5 ahead of the crossover field early for the 2015 model year, beating out rivals like the Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4 that only achieved four-star overall ratings from the NHTSA.2015 Mazda CX-5 earns 5-star safety rating

The Mazda CX-5 boasts an intelligent overall design, but it’s also loaded with special safety features, some of which—antilock brakes, daytime running lights, and an electronic stability control system, for instance—come standard on the 2015 model. Plus, the CX-5 offers optional features like a rearview camera, the Smart City Brake Support system, and our favorite here at Parks Mazda, the Adaptive Front-Lighting System, which allows the headlights to turn to better illuminate curves on dark, dangerous roads.
