Mazda Tops EPA List for Best Average Fuel Efficiency

When it comes to fuel economy, Mazda knows its stuff. The brand was named number one according to a Fuel Economy Trends report released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which examined the average fuel efficiency of various automakers. This is Mazda’s second consecutive year at the top of the list.

“Mazda has never been one to rest on its laurels, continuing to work hard, innovate and engineer vehicles that offer class-leading fuel economy in nearly every segment it competes in,” said Jim O’Sullivan, Mazda North American Operations president and CEO.

“Because the internal combustion engine is still used in more than 90 percent of the cars and SUVs sold in North America today, we chose to focus on perfecting both the operation and performance of the engine, as well as all the other systems and components that affect efficiency. Offering this technology – at an affordable price – to every consumer will help to improve our overall environmental impact.”

Mazda tops EPA list for best average fuel efficiencyThanks in large part to its innovative SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, Mazda was able to reduce its fleet-wide adjusted CO2 emissions to 316 and improve its average fuel efficiency to 28.1 mpg. No other automaker in the study can boast such impressive numbers.

You can experience this ultra-efficient technology when you stop by Parks Mazda to check out models like the all-new 2015 Mazda3, Mazda6, or CX-5.

Mazda 3 Adding Diesel Engine Option to Australian Lineup

Across the globe, the new third-generation Mazda 3 has been turning plenty of heads over the past year, its first year on the market. It’s a beautiful four-door sedan, with a long, wide body to give it a sleek shape and enough advanced engine technology to put it head and shoulders above the competition. And, at least on one continent, that engine technology is now getting even more enticing.

Mazda 3 Diesel OptionIn September, turbodiesel variants of the new Mazda 3 will start rolling into Australia, adding another efficient and powerful engine option to the model’s lineup. While both of the earlier Mazda 3 generations also featured a diesel option, this model will be the first to pair its diesel engine to an automatic transmission. The diesel will be specifically a 2.2L Skyactiv-D engine, the same one housed in both the CX-5 and 6, and of course you can choose to kick it with a manual transmission if you want.

In the USA, you can grab the Mazda 3 with either a 2.0L engine or a 2.5L engine, both of which are equipped with Skyactiv technology and churn out 155 and 184 horsepower respectively. That technology helps push the Mazda 3 lineup to more efficient heights, as the sleek sedan can get up to 41 mpg highway. So, while we might not have a diesel-driven Mazda 3 here at Parks Mazda yet, there’s still plenty of inventory to admire.

Redesigned Mazda3 Impresses in Crowded Compact Hatchback Segment

2014 mazda6

The Mazda3 has always been a likable car, but now, redesigned for the 2014 model year, its vaulted far ahead of its competition to become simply the best compact car, hatchback or sedan, in the segment. Don’t just take it from us here at Parks Mazda, though—take it from the expert car reviewers over at Edmunds.com, who like the car so much that they at one point compare it to a Mercedes.

Edmunds describes the new Mazda3 as a vehicle that displays “impeccable balance” and features “sharper styling inside and out, improved ergonomics, and plenty of fun-to-drive personality.” The review site literally had nothing bad to say about the 2014 Mazda3, especially in its hatchback incarnation. Thus, sporting such a long list of positives, it’s no wonder that the Mazda 3 grabbed the top ranking in its segment.

While Edmunds favorite thing about the redesigned Mazda 3 is the interior—which is, no doubt, extremely comfortable and convenient—we’re just as enamored with the engine options that provide you ultimate driving comfort on the roads. The 3’s base-model engine is a 2.0L, 155 horsepower package, but you can kick it up a notch to a 2.5L, 184 horsepower option if you choose. The Mazda3 simply out-muscles, out-hustles, and out-bustles all its competition. Come by and check it out today!

2014 Mazda Models Awarded Yet Again

2014 mazda3

Let it not be said that Mazda cars are unsafe.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, three 2014 Mazda models—the Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5—have already earned its highest available honor: the “Top Safety Pick+” distinction, which so far has only been awarded to a total of 22 vehicles, making Mazda the brand with the second-highest number of honors.

It’s no easy feat to achieve a Top Safety Pick+ rating. Vehicles must first earn the highest possible “Good” performance in the IIHS’s moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, head restraint, and at least “Acceptable” in the new small overlap front test. They must also claim at least a “Basic” rating for front crash prevention.

But the Mazda scores were even more impressive. The 2014 Mazda3 and CX-5 stood out with a rating of “Good” in every category—even the small overlap front test—as well as an “Advanced” rating in front crash prevention, which means that even though they can absorb crashes without breaking a sweat, it’s unlikely the drivers of a Mazda will ever get in that situation in the first place.

Come check out the ultra-safe Mazda lineup at Parks Mazda!
