MX-5 World Car Design of the Year Award Recognizes Impressive Styling

28The Mazda MX-5 was recently named the 2016 World Car Design of the Year, honoring this model’s impressive styling. First established by World Car Awards in 2006, this prestigious award recognizes breakthroughs in automotive design and performance. With a completely new look, it’s no surprise the MX-5 won this year.

According to Mazda, the MX-5 World Car Design of the Year award was given largely for this model’s revolutionary KODO, or Soul of Motion, design. Launched globally in 2015, this design program focuses on human-centric design and fun-to-drive feel. This includes a more athletic stance, sports seating, and a bold front fascia.

MX-5 World Car Design of the Year award

“What a wonderful honor, to have the Mazda MX-5 named World Car Design of the Year,” said Masahiro Moro, President and CEO, Mazda North American Operations. “As our iconic MX-5 roadster approaches one-million units of production, this award is proof that it is as young, vibrant, fun and relevant as ever.”

Believe it or not this is the 30th award for the new 2016 Mazda MX-5, including the 2015-2016 Car of the Year Japan and 2016 UK Car of the Year awards. In addition to its design, the MX-5 also features advanced SKYACTIV technologies, increasing performance and efficiency. Making the MX-5 the perfect vehicle all around. Come on, what’s not to like about this new model?

Mazda’s 2014 Miata Continues the Legacy with an Economic Price and Easy Handling

The Miata has quite the legacy behind it. It’s been 25 years running as a great commodity to Mazda’s line up. With the anniversary edition coming along with the 2015 release, let’s look at the 2014 and how it contributed to the solid reputation the 2015 Miata will have to stand on.

Mazda Miata MX-5The 2014 Miata MX-5 Miata is equipped 2.0-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, giving it a pretty good kick. The Miata’s handling has improved consistently over the years and the 2014’s is smoother and more responsive than ever before. Its rear-wheel drive handles tight turns with no struggle and the overall quality of the drive has gotten markedly better.

The Miata’s still rocking the Mazda smile, but is otherwise very modest and simple in design. It’s rounded and had just a few accents of style to give it the bit of flare it needs to look attractive.  The interior is just as simple, giving the car an economic but engaging look.

Parks Mazda is glad to see the Miata’s legacy continuing into the coming years. For more information on our dealership’s line up and more, be sure to come visit us!
