J.D. Power’s 2014 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study has named Mazda the most improved non-premium brand, as the automaker climbs from 16th to 9th place of all global automakers.

The APEAL Study surveys more than 86,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2014 model-year cars and light trucks within the first 90 days of ownership to determine customer satisfaction and how gratifying a new car is to own and drive.Mazda earns most improved brand title from APEAL Study

Mazda earned 776 points in 2013 and 821 points in 2014, and the seven-place bump to number nine represents the biggest jump for any automaker this year, along with the largest index-score improvement within non-premium brands.

All Mazda vehicles equipped with Skyactiv Technology and the KODO design language performed exceptionally well this year, with the 2014 Mazda6 receiving the highest honors in the Midsize Car segment, scoring 21 points above the segment average.
