Now that we are seeing the 2015 models come out, isn’t it about time we start speculating about 2016 Models? Could it be true that in 2016 we’ll see a revival of the Mazda RX-7? While Mazda has not yet confirmed the rumors, boldride.com seems to think we have good reason to believe the sports car could make a comeback, and we are happy to believe it.

There’s no time to waste, so let’s get right to it: here are some of the features we’re willing to bet we’ll see in the new 2016 Mazda RX-7.

Mazda’s Kodo Design Language

Obviously, a new RX-7 would feature Mazda’s latest design language, likely with some sharp edges and a unique rear fog lamp.

Skyactiv Rotary Hybrid Engine

Mazda admits a hybrid version of its Skyactiv engine is in the works, and we’d expect that the automaker will find a way to work the rotary engine tradition into the RX-7.

Manual Gearbox and Rear Wheel Drive

Here, we are stating the obvious. It is worth noting that while some automakers are doing away with the manual option, Mazda has kept it available on its performance cars including the RX-5 and RX-8. We don’t see why they wouldn’t do the same for the RX-7.

300-350 Horsepower

It’s no supercar, but the RX-7 has always been able to hold its own. Competitive with Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, and Hyundai Genesis, the RX-7 will be lightweight and handle incredibly well.
