The new Buick Avenir sub-brand will debut a lineup of concept car-inspired vehicles for the 2018 model year. The Buick Avenir was introduced as a concept car at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show and has now spanned an entire lineup of super-luxurious vehicles with special design touches.

Buick says the Avenir sub-brand is its own version of GMC’s luxury Denali line, which adds luxury amenities and features to existing GMC trucks and SUVs. The Avenir brand reflects Buick customers’ preference for higher-end vehicles; 90% of Enclave buyers, according to Buick, chose one of the two highest trim levels.

The Avenir models will take inspiration from the Avenir concept showed last year, most likely integrating the three-dimensional grille, larger wheels, and unique exterior finishes, as well as special interior detailing and Avenir badging. There are also rumors that upcoming Avenir sub-brand models could borrow styling cues from the popular Avista coupe concept.

Buick was the fastest-growing international brand of 2015, and continuing to expand the brand’s international appeal is a major focus of the company. Avenir, which is the French word for “future,” exemplifies “an important piece of future direction,” according to Helen Emsley, the executive director of Buick Global Design.

Specific product details for the Avenir lineup have not yet been announced.
